  • DESK | A streamlined desk, chair and ottoman bring a bit of a masculine vibe to the space. In contrast, the art above the desk features a collection of women’s shoes.

  • CABINET | Statuesque gold vases flank a substantial, yet graceful black cabinet.

Color and creativity combine in fund-raiser.

Jodie O’Connor had five-star indulgence in mind when designing this room. “I wanted to create a luxurious hotel look,” she says. But she also wanted “a homey feel that would bring peace and restfulness to mind.” With that goal, she stuck to a soothing neutral palette of “dreamy blues with crisp white” against soft gray walls. She also included “feminine touches mixed in with a few masculine pieces for a perfect balance.” In addition, “every fabric chosen reflected soft beauty” to create “a room that was beautiful to the eye as well as soft to the touch.”

The Designer Showhouse of New Jersey was in a Saddle River home built by Joseph DiStaulo Homes. The event benefited Hackensack University Medical Center (hackensackumc.org).
