  • COLOR PALETTE |“Our organic palette of sand, fern and brown is punctuated with peacock blue and complements the beautiful exterior view,” designer Diane Durocher says.

  • FIREPLACE PAINTING |An oil painting of a landscape above the fireplace continues the “outdoor” theme.

  • DESK |The live-edge desk is another nod to nature.

Color and creativity combine in fund-raiser.

Diane Durocher needed only to look out at the view to envision a design for this space. “Our inspiration was the spectacular large bay windows that overlook the property,” she says. She wanted visitors to “feel wrapped in the organic serenity of the season.” As such, she built her palette in organic tones of sand, fern and brown, combined with peacock blue for contrast. While the windows were one focal point, Durocher added another. “We decided to continue the scenic view with a custom mural on the room’s only full wall.” The large, yet cozy room reflects Durocher’s goal to “create an inviting gathering space for family and friends.”

The Designer Showhouse of New Jersey was in a Saddle River home built by Joseph DiStaulo Homes. The event benefited Hackensack University Medical Center (hackensackumc.org).
