  • SITTING ROOM | Dark green walls allow the artwork to stand out. Gold accents in the lighting and furnishings add a sparkling touch.

  • OFFICE | Deep colors in the sitting area complement the lighter tones in the office area.

  • SOFA & WINDOWS| Lighter furnishings with gold accents balance the rich wall color.

Color and creativity combine in fund-raiser.

In the guest suite, Mary Sferra created “the perfect setting for a hideaway home office and a relaxing sitting room.” The deep green tone on the walls of the sitting area brings warmth to the space. The dramatic color also serves as a backdrop for vibrant art and sculpture and a rich foundation for silver and gold accents woven through the room, she says. Those accents include a hammered-brass panel and the chandelier. The office area is swathed in a softer-toned grass-cloth wall covering, creating “a play of color between the two spaces.” The two rooms ensure an ideal environment “whether spending time in quiet reflection or working at your desk,” the designer says.

The Designer Showhouse of New Jersey was in a Saddle River home built by Joseph DiStaulo Homes. The event benefited Hackensack University Medical Center (hackensackumc.org).
