  • BED | Piles of pillows and a plush comforter create an opulent focal point beneath the four-poster piece surrounding the king-sized bed.

  • SEATING AREA | Chairs in the seating area repeat the fabric in the window treatments. The sofa is upholstered in the same fabric as the walls.

Color and creativity combine in fund-raiser.

David Zisa wanted to make a bold statement in this bedroom. “I wanted to make a darker, more dramatic space,” he says. To that end, he covered the walls in a deep navy blue fabric, which had the dual effect of adding luxurious texture and creating a sense of privacy and quiet. “The house is so big. You can create a feeling of seclusion by making it sound different in the room,” he explains. To ensure sophistication in the space, he made certain that “everything in the room was one-of-a-kind. We designed and made every piece.”

The Designer Showhouse of New Jersey was in a Saddle River home built by Joseph DiStaulo Homes. The event benefited Hackensack University Medical Center (hackensackumc.org).
