10 Design Resolutions For the New Year

There are only a few more days left in this year and that can only mean one thing—it’s resolution time! And while you pledge (again) to get more exercise or improve your diet, let’s talk about goals for your home Do you want it to be more functional, more stylish, more comfortable? Here are some design resolutions to think about in the coming months.

  • 1. BE FEARLESS:
Go ahead, mix those patterns. A simple color palette keeps the look sophisticated, not overwhelming.

  • 3. LOSE WEIGHT (figuratively):

Too much stuff can weigh you down. Take cumbersome objects out of room and keep accessories and accents to a minimum for a light and airy look that’s refreshing and calming.

  • 4. MANAGE STRESS:
Establish a space where you can unwind. A spa-like bathroom with natural accents like stone and wood will help you find your zen.

  • 5. TRY SOMETHING NEW:

Tastes evolve; maybe your home décor style has as well. Think about the things that you’re passionate about at this moment. What excites or interests you? How can you incorporate that into a room?

  • 10. PLAY MORE:
Include spaces for playing in your house. We spend most days dealing with the serious business of our lives. Our homes should be both a sanctuary from everyday stressors and a place for lighthearted fun.
