Good Work — Photo Op

Putting together a magazine, in print and online, involves the work of countless individuals. At Design NJ, we are privileged to work with so many gifted professionals and we want to share their stories with our readers. This is the first post in a series featuring our collaborators — people who are the best at what they do and who inspire us every day with their work ethic, integrity, and dedication to excellence.

Professional photographer Patricia Burke has been shooting for Design NJ since 2003. We frequently hire Pat because we know that we can count on her to capture the character of the homes we select for publication with accuracy and style. Every project we photograph has a unique set of challenges, and Pat is eminently qualified to handle whatever comes along. (She’s been known to hang out of a moving vehicle on a curvy mountain road in order to capture the perfect shot of a bicycle race.)

Pat possesses the highly unusual combination of technical expertise and creative vision. That’s why she excels at complicated shoots that require clever lighting solutions and styling that is en pointe. Pat’s work has been included in many Design NJ features through the years. Her photography has graced the front cover of 16 issues. Her first assignment for us was a challenging outdoor fire pit. She spent countless hours waiting to “get the shot” at dusk. The effort was worth it as her first shoot landed the coveted front cover position. Pat always goes the extra mile with a smile and a sense of humor. Sitting in a bathtub trying to grab the best angle for a room may not be in the job description; but if it’s necessary, Pat is up for it.

Visit Patricia’s website for more of her work.
