Show Business: ASID NJ

Here at Design NJ, we love a trade show—so much so that we were thrilled to be a media sponsor of the annual ASID NJ shindig. The New Jersey Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers held this year’s show–The Science of Design Symposium and Design Fair–at the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City. Here’s what greeted us when we walked in:

This is the Hoberman Sphere, designed by artist and engineer Chuck Hoberman. It expands and contracts using a motorized system of pulleys. It is very science-y and mechanical and cool, and we immediately thought of this chandelier by Moooi! (Our minds tend to default to interior design.)

The intersection of science and design aside, one of the things we like about trade shows is that we get to reconnect with old friends and make some new ones. Here are just a few images from the day.
