Walking into Blatt Billiards on Broadway, in the heart of Greenwich Village in NewYork City, one is struck by the shear number of things that one sees on the first floor of this unassuming building. Things like poker tables, darts and boards, chess sets and jukeboxes reminiscent of the 50’s. And pool tables. Stacks and stacks of pool tables. But what one doesn’t see, and would never know but for asking, is the antique and custom tables on the upper floors. It is, in fact, a surprising ride on an old, manual elevator that leads one to the real treasure in this building. Magnificent stacks of rare antiques will take your breath away on the second floor and more than 40 samples of exquisite custom tables will be found on the 4th floor.
And more surprising still, is that the tables are hand crafted on the third floor and finished on the 5th floor just the way furniture makers worked more than 100 years ago. Blatt tables are created one at time, to order, with woods and finishes prepared and cut specifically to the customers request. Rare woods like Ebony, Elm Burl, Hondoran Mahogany, Rosewood, Birdseye Maple and more. And the dyes and final finish are custom blended by Blatt -- and are said to be the best dyes and finish coats in the business.Visit Blatt Billiards on the web at www.blattbilliards.com or call for our limited edition catalog.
